Description:

The second part of this amazing documentary about Daniel Paravacini, the musical genius who is both blind and autistic but can play the piano better than most professional pianists. BTW, his first name is not Daniel, nor is his second name Paravacini but Paravicini (i think) as I wrongly put in the video. I apologise for this mistake.

this is not talent, its something else. I dont think this guy can create sonata, or another complicated arrangement of notes.

What do you mean its not talent? He may not be a great composer but he has an amazing ear.

well, later he creates and plays some great jazz improv, so i would say it is talent

The people that say that this isn't talent are just mad because they can't accept that with all that they practice, they'll never come anywhere near someone that can just do it.

What do you mean he isn't a composer? He can improvise variations on the spot! With assistance he could probably write sonatas, symphonies - provided as much as possible is rooted in music. I think perhaps 'genius' is a misleading term, but he is certainly a musician of awesome power and skill.

I agree entirely - the fact that this is a natural 'gift' rather than a gradually acquired skill is just amazing, and stands as testament to the strange and remarkable design of the human mind. I just feel sorry that he is unable to write music with an intelligent mind, only funnel his stunning raw power into incredible, but often strange and disjointed improvisations.

I'm not sure I agree that his improvisations are disjointed.. and even if they are, the point of improvisation to me is pushing the envelope.. which he certainly does. From the videos that I have seen of Derek, his improvisations stay within the parameters of jazz improv. I can't wait to buy his CD that was released not long ago!

I have listen to the CD, and find it musically interesting but not fulfilling. Whilst I think Derek's technical ideas are quite amazing, he often fluffs notes and the whole thing sounds 'raw.' Sadly, the recording was done on a keyboard. It's fairly inexpressive.

I can't believe some people are leaving negative comments. He's unbelievable.
