The trick is to have a positive attitude. Just look forward to the end result. I did very well as far as adult patients go. I never vomited or bled. Good luck.

Gosh I'm scared now. My tonsils have been acting up again for the last 2 weeks. And they've acted up since that episode I did last September. Not looking forward to the pain of having them taken out but it is very uncomfortable to to have them blocking my breathing so...guess I gotta do what I gotta do.

I never put any ice around my neck. My throat hurt mostly after drinking or eating the baby food, therefore I didn't eat a lot for the first week. I lost ten pounds. That's a bummer that you vomited after surgery. I got lucky and was able to prevent it.

Did you ever try putting ice around your neck to ease the swelling?

Thanks for the advice. Yea, the pain medicine makes me dizzy and nausious to so I try to refrain from it as much as possible. The anastheisa upset my stomach and i threw up about 7 hours after my surgery.

I was able to go back to work after my tenth day. I hope that you do well. Ignoring the pain is difficult. Just imagine that you'll feel so much better in just a couple of weeks. Also, it helps if you put your ice cream in the refrigerator for a couple of hours before eating it. That way it's not so hard and cold.

My doctor told me that I did very well as adult tonsilectomy patients go. I was able to talk right away without any problems. However, the pain medicine was rough on my stomach, so I had to discontinue taking it after the third day. From then on, I drank bland liquids. I found that drinking coffee as a chaser helped to neutralize acidic foods, though I didn't dare try citrus. I was able to eat solid foods after my tenth day and the pain was gone after three weeks.

So I just had my tonsilectomy and adenoidectomy yesturday. I don't understand how you can talk because it is so difficult for me to. It hurts so bad! Swollowing is even more painful. You are fully healed by now right? Have you been eating rougher foods and citrus without any pain or bleeding? I heard a story that someone ate a fried chicken wing one month after surgery and they had chronic bleeding and had to go to the emergency room.

It didn't change my voice permanantly. It was different for only a couple of weeks. It did help me with my sleep apnea.

Ok I'm getting mine out in a couple weeks. I'm dying to know...did it change the sound of your voice? And if so, for the better? Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks.
