| panzarw ::: Favorites ok can you tell step by step about doing that thing to tin the solder? ok and i have like not liquid but paste in a can is that also flux, and when i suppoused to stick the so0lder in it ? 07-05-11 09:45:45 _____________________________________________________ | |
| Cirvin ::: Favorites Make sure the tip isn't loose and that your joint or solder isn't too much for the iron you have to handle. The dark stuff is copper reacted with the air because it wasn't tinned properly. I'd chuck the tip in a drill, sand it until it's nice and shiny, then use some flux and re tin the tip so it doesn't oxidize. That will also help the thing conduct heat so you don't have to sit there for 5 min on a single joint. 07-05-10 20:56:03 _____________________________________________________ | |
| panzarw ::: Favorites hey ive got a prob, when im soldering im like heating something like for 5 min, will it help if i cut the the heating thing, cuz i think while the goes to the end it just cools down by the air, so should i cut it ? and from what are they made cuz mine is kinda dark then spots of copper... 07-05-10 10:36:24 _____________________________________________________ | |
| fingerboy18 ::: Favorites Soldering will not work on aluminum. At least not using rosin core solder. 07-01-22 00:41:51 _____________________________________________________ | |

| Cirvin ::: Favorites Yup. 06-10-06 17:20:37 _____________________________________________________ | |
| andreasm ::: Favorites Should't you use fresh solder with flux when connecting the wire? 06-10-06 09:44:07 _____________________________________________________ | |
| Cirvin ::: Favorites This was a bit more of a specialized demo for a friend who had to solder to a pad, and yes, a sponge can be used, u normally use a damp rag myself, it's off the shot. Holding clamps are nice, but they aren't a must, I've been soldering without them for some time now. 06-10-01 14:34:13 _____________________________________________________ | |
