| bigdaddybooty ::: Favorites Stevie Ray took the licks of Albert King and Lightnin' Hopkins and he pumped fuel, energy, and intensity into them. Looking back he revived the blues in the 80's and I think has his place among legendary black bluesman such as BB and Albert King, Freddie King, Hopkins, Robert Johnson ect. He played that guitar like it was his life and sqeezed every bit of it out. Could that boy play guitar......... 07-08-28 16:23:04 _____________________________________________________ | |

| whitefeet1 ::: Favorites That is the late Mr. Paul Butterfield on harp.... the man, the master, our guru in the blues... SRV made a big contribution, but all of his main licks can be traced back to one man - Lightnin' Hopkins.... study it sometime. 07-08-24 00:24:15 _____________________________________________________ | |

| estisfatuus ::: Favorites I've been playing guitar, and specifically blues lead guitar for over a decade now, and while I'd credit Stevie with being a bigger influence on my playing personally, there is no denying that B.B. and Albert King laid the foundation for what he was building upon. You argue amongst yourselves as to who's "better", but be really you're comparing two totally different generations of blues guitarists, and if that's the case, you've missed the point. 07-08-22 08:38:59 _____________________________________________________ | |
| estisfatuus ::: Favorites Stevie Ray Vaughan: Technically speaking this man is quite probably, the greatest blues guitarist ever to live. As far as guitar playing was concerned he took the blues to an entirely new level. Unfortunately his career was the most short lived of the three, and many argue that he hadn't even reached his peak in playing ability before he died. The mark he left is unmistakable, but it should have been much greater given his talent. 07-08-22 08:31:11 _____________________________________________________ | |
| estisfatuus ::: Favorites Albert King: He's sort of in between B.B. and Stevie. He was a more innovative guitarist, and a better player technically speaking, but he never gained the common place popularity B.B. King did, yet he left his mark on Blues history all the same. 07-08-22 08:24:14 _____________________________________________________ | |
