Description:
Religious fundamentalists use Hawking's term "the mind of God" to make you believe that he believes in a supernatural god. This is completely false: http://richarddawkins.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=40817 "In the interview, Hawking is asked about his famous 'mind of god' remark at the end of A Brief History of Time, and whether he was referring to the 'force of nature' He says that "one can define god as the embodiment of the Laws of Nature", but that most people think of god as "a human-like being with whom one can have a personal relationship. When you look at the vast size of the universe and how insignificant and accidental human life is in it, that seems most implausible"." However, this is not what most people think of as god. They mean a human-like being with whom one can have a personal relationship. When you look at the vast size of the universe and how insignificant and accidental human life is in it, that seems most implausible." |

| bubbah ::: Favorites Einstein believed in Spinoza's "god": the laws of nature! So "God" is the laws of nature, and he did not believe in supernatural things. Thus, he is an Atheist. It doesn't matter what he called himself. He was completely irreligious, and did not believe in a supernatural god, but referred to the laws of nature. In other words, his beliefs were Atheist beliefs, whether he defined himself as one or not. 07-08-18 18:26:55 _____________________________________________________ | |
| bubbah ::: Favorites "It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it." -Alrbert Einstein 07-08-18 18:27:34 _____________________________________________________ | |
| SwyshaSuyt314 ::: Favorites He was refering to being called a jew. "Try and penetrate with our limited means the secrets of nature and you will find that, behind all the discernible laws and connections, there remains something subtle, intangible and inexplicable. Veneration for this force beyond anything that we can comprehend is my religion. To that extent I am, in fact, religious."-Albert Einstein 07-08-18 18:40:32 _____________________________________________________ | |
| SwyshaSuyt314 ::: Favorites "I'm not an atheist. I don't think I can call myself a pantheist. The problem involved is too vast for our limited minds. We are in the position of a little child entering a huge library filled with books in many languages. 07-08-18 18:46:14 _____________________________________________________ | |
| SwyshaSuyt314 ::: Favorites cont. "The child knows someone must have written those books. It does not know how. It does not understand the languages in which they are written. The child dimly suspects a mysterious order in the arrangement of the books but doesn't know what it is. That, it seems to me, is the attitude of even the most intelligent human being toward God. We see the universe marvelously arranged and obeying certain laws but only dimly understand these laws."- Albert Einstein 07-08-18 18:47:56 _____________________________________________________ | |
| SwyshaSuyt314 ::: Favorites "There are people who say there is no God, But what makes me really angry is that they quote me for support of such views."- Albert Einstein 07-08-18 18:53:04 _____________________________________________________ | |
| SwyshaSuyt314 ::: Favorites "Science can be created only by those who are thoroughly imbued with the aspiration toward truth and understanding, This source of feeling, however, springs from the sphere of religion." Albert Einstein 07-08-18 18:56:29 _____________________________________________________ | |
| SwyshaSuyt314 ::: Favorites "The situation may be expressed by an image: science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind."- Albert Einstein I totally agree with this quote. 07-08-18 18:58:43 _____________________________________________________ | |
| bubbah ::: Favorites What you are doing, SwyshaSuyt314, is to take all those quotes out of context. In their proper context, it is clear that Einstein refers to purely naturalistic things. Whether he calls himself an "Atheist" or not, he does not believe in a supernatural god, and thus, is an Atheist. Einstein's "god" is the laws of nature. Einstein's "religion" is believing that everything can be understood using reason. 07-08-18 20:43:11 _____________________________________________________ | |
| SwyshaSuyt314 ::: Favorites Einstein would have disliked you greatly and agreed with me but since you are too proud to see your argument as false you choose to plug your ears and think happy thoughts instead of looking at the truth. It is crystal clear that he did not believe in a personal god but he believed in god none the less thus he is a deist. Einsteins god was the creator of the laws of nature. Your quote does not hold a candle to my quotes, you are simply a liar or an idiot. 07-08-18 21:33:47 _____________________________________________________ | |
